Common Name A - Z Listing      Botanical Name A - Z Listing
Pieris japonica 'White Cascade'
(White Cascade Andromeda)

Botanical Name:
Pieris japonica 'White Cascade'

Common Name:
White Cascade Andromeda

Plant Hardiness: Zone 5

Flower: Long panicles of white flowers last for over 5 weeks. Very showy.

Bloom Time: Early spring - March through April

Foliage: The new leaves are yellow-brown but turn a lustrous dark green as they mature. They remain green all winter.

Fruit: A small dry capsule that persists throughout the season. These should be removed for the best plant growth.

Habit: Upright, mounding broadleaf evergreen.

Size: 6 to 9 feet tall with a spread of 4 to 5 feet.

Sun Exposure: Part shade to full sun. This plant does well as an understory plant.

Native Habitat: Japan and Eastern China

Other Features: Pieris is deer resistant in most areas.

Description: This one comes from my friends at Vermeulen Nursery down in New Jersey. Typical upright Pieris plant habit, however, the flowers are on longer panicles than the type plant and last for a longer period of time. For pure flower effect in a white flowering form, this is a very nice plant.
